Frustrated Again

No matter how many times I try to convince myself otherwise, I think I’ll still be forever frustrated with this world.

One of my casual researching interests is Garbage Island, and while reading and watching videos about it today, I heard several times that there was really no hope of cleaning it up. This was bad news for me, because up until now, I thought perhaps it was possible to clean up the plastic and recycle it into something useful instead of just leaving it floating in the middle of the Pacific indefinitely until it photo-decomposes, leaving smaller fragments of the same plastic.

Several times did I hear that even the guys who are putting the most effort into studying this growing problem say that Garbage Island couldn’t be cleaned up; the best we could do would be to cut the problem off at the source. That would be the ticket, wouldn’t it? Getting the USA to stop throwing away so much damn plastic that so it doesn’t end up in the ocean? Doesn’t seem likely to me though…
